Adriana explores cyanotypes, an alternative photographic process which pushes the boundary of what a
photograph can be. Originally used to document plants, a cyanotype “prints’ a deep Prussian blue when
exposed to the sun. This artist series sets out to document meaningful flora and preserve it as a piece of art for the home and combine it with a personal touch of a family member’s hand holding the bouquet.
Adriana’s cyanotypes pay homage to the alternative process’s origins, while modernizing her approach and creating a one-of-a-kind, personalized piece.
Her process is to provide each family with a custom bouquet and inviting them in for a 20 min session. Including hands of the family, little ones or a combo in order to create a photograph. Later that photograph is transformed by hand to the one-of-a-kind cyanotype print onto a textured watercolor paper.
This 8x10 print is mounted in the center of simple 11x14 birchwood frame.
